It began rearmament just before war broke out, at the pleas of its military officials. But as the tense months dragged on, conflict with the new Reich became inevitable. It had maintained neutrality during the First World War, and pursued pacifism through much of the post-war years. Let’s take a look at each single-player campaign, and piece them together with what really happened.

I took the liberty of tackling such controversy two years ago, and I’m ready to do it again. And, also like last time, it’s mostly founded on gamer butthurt.

Much like Battlefield 1, controversy surrounding Battlefield V’s historical accuracy erupted nearly immediately.

WW2 is cool again, much to the groaning of players old enough to remember when games set in the conflict were everywhere. This week, Battlefield V bought us back to the franchise’s beginnings. Vietnam, modern warfare, a brief return to its roots with Battlefield 1943 in 2009, the First World War, and even the near future of 2142. Over the years, the franchise has jumped from place to place. 2002’s Battlefield 1942 made playing through the war’s epic battles possible, on a scale that hadn’t been seen before. They date back to (at least) Castle Wolfenstein in 1981. Games are absolutely no stranger to the Second World War. Entertainment doesn’t shy away from it either, which is where our good friend video games comes in.

Letter #6: Go to the Ridge Line just at the far edge of the airfield.

This area is also marked with a pile of rocks.

Letter #5: In the lake, find the small island with a cluster of palm trees.

Find the rocky path up to the previous objective, the letter is on the ground. There’s another pile of rocks on the side of the road.

Letter #4: From the Comms Station objective, go toward the airfield.

There’s another stack of rocks with the letter nearby, just off the road. On the way, you’ll reach an area called Basin’s Edge.

Letter #3: Go toward the Comms Station.

Letter #2: Just outside the Radar Station objective, find the pile of rocks marking the trail at the Village Overlook.

There are two guards and a parked car outside.

Letter #1: Found in the Abandoned Hut, near the start of the map, to the left.

Follow the path right to the water and enter the bushes at the “Riverbank” zone. On the ride, there’s a halftrack on the side of the ride.

Letter #3: In the same area, follow the road to the hangar.

Go up to the central “Hillside Plateau” to find the letter on the ground.

Letter #2: After the fight encounter, you’ll enter a very large area.

When you get close to a collectible letter, the location will be marked.

Letter #1: Enter the “Fishing Hut” near the very start, when you get the objective to follow Mason.
